Sri Chaturmukha Brahmalingeswara Swamy

Brahma Temple

Overview

The Sri Brahmalingeswara Chaturmukha Swamy temple here with a clutch of temples more veterans dating back to the reign of Chalukya Chola, Pallava, Kakatiya dynasties form a circuit of fascinating temples but those who know that there are ancient structures such in this fertile landscape could perhaps be counted on the fingers.

THE Chaturmukha Brahmalingeswara Swamy temple which was built by Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu, about 200 years ago, is one of the few temples, dedicated to Lord Brahma, although he is loved here with Lord Shiva.

It is said that Lord Brahma has been cursed by Bhrugu Maharshi that it would not worshipped on earth which is the reason for a STF with sculptures of Brahma on its four faces was consecrated here instead of separating the idols of him.

It is a very beautiful temple located in the middle of a tank surrounded by two small temples of Lord Shiva to the East and the West and that of Vishnu in the north and the south and four temples of goddess Sakti to the four corners manifests itself in various incarnations.

The proximity of Sri Adikesava Swamy temple is more age of centuries, built during the reign of the Pallavas. He Sri Bhimeswara Nageswara Swamy and Sri Swamy temples nearby. It is believed that these temples were built between the 9th and 14th centuries.

These ancient structures are left to the whims of nature by the endowments and archeology departments, who seemed not to be concerned about their status. A viewing card solitaire conditioned by the archeology department before Nageswara Swamy temple has nothing but rust on it.

A temple of Lord Nataraja and a thousand pillar Hall (mandapam) are presumed to have existed at the front of the stone sculpture of dilapidated Nandi which can be seen in the vicinity of the Nageswara Swamy temple.

It was an idol of Lord Nataraja measuring 12 feet which has been the center of attraction here thousands of years ago. None of these, not even their remains, can be found today.
