Overview

The last refuge for the Moghul emperor Humayun reminds more of a luxurious palace, a tomb.
 
Located in the eastern part of Delhi, Humayun's tomb is one of the best preserved monuments of teachers. His mausoleum is the first example of the architecture for teachers in India.
 
After a century of its construction the tomb of Humayun has inspired the construction of the more famous Taj Mahal.
 
The point of view of the history of the architecture of this building is the only link between the Gur Emir, where the father of Tamerlane is Humayun buried, and the mausoleum of his grandson Shah Jahan, i.e. Taj Mahal.
 
Humayun's tomb was built thanks to the initiative of his widow Hamida Banu Begum, who began the construction of a mausoleum of her husband died in 1565, nine years after his death. The construction was completed in 1572.
 
The architecture of the tomb is very much influenced by the architecture of the Persian. The building's architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyas was the same of Persian origin. The mausoleum was established on a platform that mass to a maximum height of 7 m. The building is built from red sandstone, while the tomb is made of black marble and yellow. The height of Humayun's tomb is 47 meters, and its width is 91 meters.
 
The lower level of this rectangular building is decorated with bows extrajudicial, that are found throughout the perimeter of the property.
 
The Cenotaphe rule is situated in the center of the top floor in a grand chamber decorated with several rows of frame windows.
