Overview

Kali Bari Temple is located in Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. The temple was built in the year 1845 and is dedicated to Goddess Kali who is also known as Shyamala. The Kali Bari temple of Simla is a very well known religious place. The Kalibari temple was primarily located in Jakhu hill. The British brought it to its new site.
 
The shrine of the blue Goddess existed near Rotheny Castle on Jakhoo before it was shifted to a place, known as Kali Bari at present. In the temple, a wooden image of the Goddess Kali in the form of Shyamala is worshipped. The original altar at the shrine was established by the Bengali devotees as per historians.
 
Goddess Kali is worshipped in the forms like Bhavani, Bhadrakali, Cchinnamasta, Chamunda, Durga, Himavati, Kumari Sati, Kamakshya, Meenakshi, Parvati, Rudrarani, Tara and Uma at the shrine. This religious spot is very famous in Shimla and people coming here make it a point to visit the temple, which is located in Jakhu Hill. It is set amidst the lush green forests of Shimla and offers a magnificent view of the Himalayas, and this is the reason why tourists love to explore this stunning hilltop.

How to Reach,
tourists travel to Shimla in cabs or private taxies which can be hired at the seasonal rates going around in the region. A small toy train can also be taken to enjoy the scenic views of this region. However, it is a slow train that takes about 6 hours to get from Kalka to Shimla.
