Overview

Kudremukh is a scenic hill station. It was earlier famous for mining. Located in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka.Kudremukh means horse’s face and the place gets its name from a peak that resembles the face of a horse. It is known for its breath taking landscapes, National Park and waterfall. 
 
It was many rivers, green forest, and alluring cascades, making it a calm and secluded hill station. The valley is a chain of mountains connected with each other by steep slopes. There is abundance of flora and fauna. Three vital rivers Bhadra, Nethravati and Tunga originate from the region. Kudermukh is a  dense forests around the town and wildlife spotting is popular, even though the forest cover makes it difficult to spot animals easily. With five sacred ponds located near the town  Amba Teertha, Naga Teertha, Vasishtha Teertha, Rudra Teertha and Varaha Teertha.
 
The Kudremukh National Park  is the second largest Wildlife Protected Area  belonging to a tropical wet evergreen type of forest in the Western Ghats. Kudremukh National Park is located in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi District and Chikkamagaluru districts of the State of Karnataka. 
 
Kadambi Waterfalls is one of the spectacular natural attractions of Karnataka. The falls are located inside the Kudremukh National Park in the Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. The waterfall has a height of about 30 feet. The Kadambi Waterfalls are a major draw for tourists who want to experience the beauty of nature.
 
Hanumanagundi Water falls, located 32 km from Kalasa, the waterfall spills onto natural rock formations from a height of more than 100 feet.
 
The Lakya Dam is a check dam built across the river Lakya, a tributary of the Bhadra river. The dam was constructed by Kudremukh Iron Ore Company. The dam is situated in a protected forest area inside the Kudremukh National Park.
 
There are many festivals in Kudremukh which are celebrated with great fun and enthusiasm. Navaratri in the month of October/November is celebrated with much joy. Again, among all other festivals in Kudremukh, Karavali Festival is popular, it is celebrated in the month of February every year.

  • Kodandaramaswami Temple is a Hindu Temple. Located at Hiremagalur near Chikkamagaluru. Rama and Lakshmana are depicted with their bows and arrows here. As Rama’s bow is called Kodanda, this temple is known as Kodandarama Temple. The Temple  have been constructed in three stages, with its garbhagrha and sukhanasi structures in the Hoysala style.
