Overview

The Nanneshwara Temple is located in Lakkundi village, Gadag district, Karnataka.The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a 11th century Later Chalukya construction. This temple looks like a simple and small. The Nanesvara temple follows the same basic plan as the Kasivisvesvara temple.
 
The Nanneshwara Temple is a small but beautiful temple. It looks very similar to the bigger Kasivisvesvara Temple nearby. Though, unlike the Kasivisvesvara Temple. The temple stands on a platform of four feet in height. The mukhamandapa has sixteen pillars, each with a square pedestal and circular mouldings above. Based on an inscription found in this temple, it can be dated back to second half of the 12th century A.D.The Nanneshwara Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva has a single Linga which is located in a dark Garbhagraha in the temple. The temple has an open mandapa with beautifully decorated pillars leading to a small mandapa that leads to the Garbhagraha housing the Shiva Linga.

Gadag is well connected by road from all District headquarters of Karnataka. Upon reaching Gadag, one can take local transport or KSRTC Rural service to reach Lakkundi.
