Overview

THE Shweta Varahaswamy temple is also known as the temple Varahaswamy. This temple is located at the south entrance of the fort. The temple is built in the architectural style followed by the Hoysalas. The sanctuary of the goddess has a carved portal with elegance and pillars richly carved and tower. THE Navaranga has slots in stucco on the sides of the entry. THE Navaranga has beautiful murals on its walls. These tables show the incidents of the Ramayana and the Bhagavatha. These paintings especially attention to the exploits of Lord Krishna.
 
The temple has images with inscriptions on their pedestal. There is an inscription on an image of procession which recorded that the licensor has been Wodeyar Shikka Devaraja (1672-1704).  It is said that Wodeyar Shikka Devaraja obtained l image in stone of Srimushnam Shweta Varahaswamy of, a city in what is today the Tamil Nadu and devoted to the new temple built in the capital, Srirnagapatna of Mysore State. After the defeat of Tippu Sultan the capital has been moved to Mysore City and the idol too is passed to it and installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the present temple in 1809.
 
It is asserted that Dewan Purnaiya had this temple built with materials of a building in the district Shimoga Hoysala empire according to the wishes of Krishnaraja Wodeyar III. There are two images of Srivaishnava Acharyas registered, Jiyar Desikar and, in the temple. Also called Vedanthacharya Desikar was popular Sri Vaishnava teacher and author in the 13th and 14the centuries. These statues have inscriptions on them that indicate that Krishnaraja Wodeyar III presented the temple in Mysore that he built in 1829. The structure of the temple has a number of trademarks and masons of letters in several places.
 
There is a registration maya Bhadra Gol prison in characters if the 12th or 13th century on the outside wall of the south of the sanctuary of the goddess. It is not clear that the means of expression and if it refers to the artist or of the niche itself. The temple is enclosed inside of high walls. The south wall-is has a mural representative Rama Pattabhisheka or the coronation of Lord Rama. The painted inscription under the painted panel stated that the painting was made the second Monday of the bright half of the month Magaha in the cyclic year Bhava of the era of Saka 1797.
