Overview

Durgiana Temple is situated outside the Lohgarh Gate in Holy Amritsar City of Punjab.The temple was inaugurated by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya stone of the temple in the year 1924, on the occasion of Ganga Dashmi.  Goddess Durga as the principal deity. This 16th-century temple is a Hindu version of the Golden Temple. Surrounded by a holy water tank, it’s often called the Silver Temple because of its exquisitely engraved silver doors. 
 
This City of Amritsar is pious, as it was visited by Lord Rama,Maryada Parshotam.Lov & Kush spent their childhood  alongwith their mother Mata Sita on this soil in the Ashram of Maharishi Balmiki.King Ishvaku Grandson of Surya Devta  performed a number of Yagya on this land.The City of Amritsar was how ever established by the fourth Guru of Sikhs Sh.Amar Dass Ji.This religious & pious place of the Durgiana Mandir is managed by Durgiana Committee .The Trust utilizes the offerings of the Temple & other resources for the various activities for the welfare of the society irrrespective of religion, caste and creed. Gods & Godesses of the Hindus i.e Lakshmi Narain, Lord Rama,Sita,Lakshman,Bharat,Radha Krishna ji,Shree Hanuman ji,Lord Shiva & Satnarain ,are in existence here . Sri Durgiana Temple was constructed by Guru Harsai Mal Kapoor, on the pattern of the Golden Temple. It is also known as Laxmi Narayan Temple. Lord Krishna as well as Lord Vishnu is also worshipped here, along with Goddess Durga. Daily rituals dedicated to Goddess Durga are performed. The temple has a dome and tank as its prime possession, which is considered sacred by the Hindu followers. Shree Durgiana Temple stands amidst a tank and has a dome illuminated with colorful glittering lights. The temple comes across as a rich work of artistry and architecture.
 
The sacred city of the Amritsar which was founded by the fourth Sikh Guru Ram Dass ji has come to assume a special significance in Hindu cosmology because of various mythical and historical connections. Amritsar is particularly nearer and dearer to Hindus as it is believed that the Lov-Kush along with their mother Mata Sita spent their early childhood in the ashram of Bhagwan Maharishi Balmiki ji in the land of Amritsar
