grandeur of the Temple:

We do not have separate temples of Nandhi the vahan of Shiva, of Garuda, it Manager, peacock for Muruga and the Moonjuru (belonging to the family rat) of Vinayaka. But we have temples for the snakes-Nagas. There is a philosophy behind this cult. Although the displacement of dust, it does not touch the body Naga. The Nagas-snakes are not affected by any object on which they move or live around. It is said that, although we, the human beings have to live in any environment, such as the family, material efforts or in natural environment, they should be spared by the effects of such a life and should maintain detachment and individuality.

The presiding deity Nagaraja Walk from graces of the sanctum sanctorum with five heads. As Chandi and Mundi are the Dwarapalakas in Shiva temples and Jayan and Vijayan of Vishnu temples, a male snake Darnendran by name and female snake named Padmavathi are the dwarapalakas (securities) in this temple. It is estimated that the snakes are here as titles of the temple. Therefore, in order to facilitate their lives, the sanctum sanctorum has a thatched roof. During the month Aadi-July -August- the roof is renewed.

It may be recalled that the divine serpent Adisesha in the sea of milk serving as bed of Lord Vishnu, do as Lakshmana when Lord took the Rama Avatar. Lakshmana birth star was Aslesha-Aayila . Based on this fact, the people facing Naga example, balance the dosha perform milk abishek of Nagaraja Walk from on this star day. Also the milk abishek has held each day at 10.00 hours the aficionados offer Paal Payasam -milk porridge as nivedhana and place naga idols in the temple campus.

The sanctum sanctorum is a surface wet sand and as it is a domain earlier. This wet sand is offered as Prasad. The most surprising is that the sand is black during the Dakshinayana Punya Kala being the journey south period of Sun covering the months of July to December-February and white during the Utharayana Punyakala in traveling to the north period of Sun covering the period from February to December-January.

Monsoon begins in the month of Aavani-August -september when movements of snakes would be a plus. To avoid any difficulties or accidents, the farmers have taken advantage of this adoration Naga and comforted their fury with milk abishek. It also happens that Sunday is a day ideal for Rahu-serpent planet worship. Aavani also happens to be the first month according to calendar Malayalam. Pujas are performed in the temple according to tradition of Kerala.

Lords Ananthakrishna and Kasi Viswanatha sanctuaries are right of Nagaraja Walk from sanctuary. After puja Walk from Nagaraja, pujas are performed in these holy places. However, the last of the Poya day-Arthajama puja- is dedicated to Lord Ananhakrishna. Although Walk from Nagaraja is the goddess of the temple, kodimaram-flag post is for Lord Ananthakrishna only. Thai Brahmmotsavam is also dedicated, it manager only with car festival on Thai Poosam day. Aarattu and Krishna Jayanthi too are celebrated for Lord Ananthakrishna.

It is also to be noted that a tortoise occupies the place of Garuda in the roof post against tradition. Garuda and snakes are natural enemies. It is a temple for the snake. Therefore, to avoid a hostile atmosphere, it is said tortoise is chosen for the place of Garuda. Another reason is that Lord Vishnu took the Koorma (tortoise) Avathar to maintain the churning stick while taking nectar of the sea of milk. It is as a mark of respect for the tortoise too. There is a garden of flowers Nagalinga plants too.

The temple has a shrine to mother Durga. As the idol was found in the sacred spring here, she is hailed as Theertha Durga. The people who face some negative aspects of Rahu and/or Rahu-Kethu planets worship here during the time Rahukalam Tuesdays - between 3.00 h and 4.30 h Keralite call aged women as Ammachi as a mark of respect. Mother Durga is here treated respectfully as Ammachi Durga.

Historic Temple: a woman has

been to cut the paddy rice in the field. The blood oozed from a tape. Fear woman has informed its experience for the people of the place. They came to the place, they have found a walk from Nagaraja idol. They immediately built a hut around the Walk from Nagaraja.
