Tiruvidaimarudur has a Siva: Temple namely Mahalingha Swamy with the Goddess Gujambal Brahath Sundara(in Tamil, it is Ammai Mamulai Perunala). Two festivals of the Temple are famous for 10 days - "Thai Poosam" in January-February and the other, Thirukkalyana Uthsavam (utsavam) in Vaigasi Vasantha (May). 63 Aruthra Nayanmar Ula and Darshan( as In Chidambaram) are two other important festivals of the Temple. There are 27 Star, the prince "lingas Ammani mammalian" prakaram Vigragam and Chitra(seal enclosure of a temple) which is full of paint. Tiruvidaimarudur Pattinathar is the cradle of the Hindu Saint Pattinathar - in the medieval period - whose words are renowned for the realization of the self in Hindu mythology. This temple also known to have given the redemption to the king for his "Pandiya Varaguna DhOsham Brahmahati", and there is a belief still widespread that any kind of evil spirit will exit when you touch the place. It is a popular belief that Lord Mahalingam heals the fool when they circum-walk the temple.
